Easter at the Crispendorf holiday railway

At Easter, the horns of the Crispendorf holiday railway sound again in the Wisenta valley. It's already a tradition to start the driving season at Easter. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday from 10 a.m. the colorful wagons will be back on the tracks, which are only 60 cm wide. The two battery locomotives Crispi and Maja and the entire team of the Ferienlandeisenbahn Crispendorf e. V. have been working towards this since November last year. On both days the train runs until 6 p.m., with the trains starting at Festwiese station and making a short stop along the way because the Easter Bunny has announced his arrival and is hiding colorful eggs for all the children.
Trains run every 10 minutes depending on demand. The café on the platform invites you to linger and serve food, drinks, cakes and ice cream. Of course there is a bouncy castle!

The association's volunteer members have renewed around 45 meters of track in the past few months. 40 tons of gravel and, among other things, 25 concrete sleepers were installed. For years it has been possible to sponsor a sleeper and thus support the association in purchasing the expensive but durable concrete sleepers.
From Easter to the end of October, the trains run on certain days and on request. The bathing suit can also be used upon request.

The Ferienlandeisenbahn Crispendorf e. V. operates and maintains the tracks and vehicles in order to preserve this attractively located gem for locals and tourists. In many volunteer hours, all activities are carried out like on the big railway, because the legislation makes no distinction between small and large trains. Helping hands are always wanted!

The holiday railway runs along the Wisenta and crosses the Saale-Wisenta-Plothengrund circular hiking trail. The holiday railway is a good starting point for a short walk. From the mountain ridge you can look down to the Saale and the Wisenta Dam is within sight.
